Sound absorbers are usually mounted on the ceiling. However, this may sometimes be inappropriate or impossible. Take, for instance, a courtyard with a glazed roof or a room with some form or roof windows. In such cases, sound absorbing wall panels are more suited than a sound absorbing ceiling.

In premises such as classrooms, conference rooms or gymnasiums, wall absorbers are

used as a supplement to ceiling absorbers in order to eliminate the risk of flutter echo. In cinemas, theatres, auditoriums, and recording and broadcasting studios, it is important to control and regulate, in different ways in different occasions, both the sound emitted from the speakers and the sound reflections. In such cases, absorbers are often used in both on the ceiling and the walls.

Ecophon Wall absorber A

Application and appearance.
As an alternative or supplement to sound absorbers on the ceiling, and particularly in larger premises, in order to avoid flutter echo. Wall absorbers with Super G or Colorado fabric can also serve as notice boards.

Product description.
Ecophon Wall absorber A has a glass wool core, The visible surface has an Akutex T coating (Master alpha) or is covered with glass fibre fabric (Colorado) or extra sturdy glass fibre fabric (Super G). The reverse side is covered with glass tissue.

Weight.
The weight is approximately 5 kg/m², including the mounting grid system .

Accessibility.
Wall absorber A is demountable.

Sound absorption.
Ecophon Wall absorber A has class A/40 mm o.d.s. sound absorption rating in accordance with EN ISO 11654. The above sound absorption graph shows the results of testing in accordance with the room method (EN ISO 354).

Cleaning.
Wall absorbers Master/alpha and Super G can withstand daily vacuum cleaning, and wet cleaning once a week. Wall absorber Colorado can be vacuum cleaned.

Moisture resistance.
Wall absorber Master/alpha has been tested in accordance with ISO 4611 and can withstand permanent ambient relative humanity of up to 95% at 30°C without sagging, warping or delaminating.

Handling and mechanical strength.
Ecophon Wall absorbers have very good handling properties. Mater/alpha Wall absorber has relatively good mechanical strength. With Colorado fabric, the strength is good, and with Super G fabric, very good.

Fire safety.
Ecophon Wall absorbers meets stringent international requirements for ceiling products regarding reaction-to-fire properties, e.g. BS 476 parts 6 and 7, ASTM E1264, DIN 4102, MO (France), Nordtest Fire 003 and 004, etc.

Indoor climate.
Wall absorber Master/alpha has been granted the Nordic 'Swan' eco-label. Certified is accordance with the Danish Indoor Climate Labelling. Recommended by the Swedish Asthma and Allergy Association. Cleanroom class 3.5/100. Wall absorber Super G and Colorado is recommended by the Swedish Asthma and Allergy Association.

Environment influence.
Wall absorber master/alpha has been granted the Nordic 'Swan' eco-label. Full recyclable.

Thermal Insulation.
Thermal resistance Rp = 1.0m² °C/W. Since a wall absorber mounted on an external wall serves as additional insulation, the need for a vapour barrier should be investigated.

Installation.
Ecophon Wall absorber A is mounted as shown in installation diagram M38. To avoid soiling, clean cotton gloves should be worn when handling the wall absorbers, and the installation work should be done as late as possible in the building process.
